A Pre-Christmas Break At Sensatori Tenerife

Last week we snuck off for a cheeky pre-Christmas break, and a much needed dose of sunshine, to the stunning Sensatori Tenerife, aka The Gran Melia Guia De Isora in Alcala on the west coast.

This was our first visit to a Sensatori resort and it’s fair to say we were pretty impressed.  I’ve looked at Sensatori many times in the Thomson brochure, but the cost has always put me off. However, Steve (always on the lookout for a holiday deal) found this one at a really good price, so it would have been rude to say no.

Our room was palatial with a very roomy bathroom complete with rainforest shower, huge bath and his n hers sinks.

There were plenty of places to eat (we were on a full board basis) including the lovely Pangea, where you could eat al fresco in the evening, and the Oasis Bar and Grill where we ate lunch overlooking the pool.

We ate lots of fish and enjoyed a fair bit of wine too!

The gardens are beautifully kept with ponds and rills filled with Koi carp, plus this canny little egret feasting on little tiny fish every day.

We’re not sunbathers, but for those who like to spend time chilling  by the pool, there are these very pretty Bali beds.

There is also a Clarins Spa where you can have a treatment in these cute little rooms on stilts.  Didn’t have the budget sadly, but maybe one day!

Although this is a family friendly hotel, there are adult areas (including an adult pool, cocktail bar and parts of the restaurant).  There is also a daily programme of activities, great for lovers of Pilates and Yoga.

The village of Alcala is just a short walk away.  It has a lovely little square and is just perfect for a morning coffee.  We’ll be back next year.
